"So few people talk about the partner of the victim." So few people talk about the partner of the victim. When my girlfriend was raped I experienced with her the humiliation she experienced. She was only 20. It was "date rape." She had turned this guy down (Mike) and dated me. After returning her to her apartment from a night out while in college, I left for my home. It was some hours "Mike" insisted he be allowed in to see my girlfriend Terri. Her roommate, unaware she didn't want to see him, let him in. He found her in her bedroom asleep; she woke to him pinning her arms behind her. He said "You should have gone out with me" then proceeded to remove her clothes and ultimately raped her. I found her knocking on my door after the attack---she told me everything. I can still remember the look on her face when she ended, tears streaming down her cheeks, saying to me "That wasn't how I wanted to lose my virginity." I struggled as she struggled and eventually we married, but that experience on that night changed both of our lives forever.
